The city of centuries-old history and great contrasts. We’ll walk through the greatest and most impressive monuments of Russian capital city where we will visit: the Kremlin, Russian Bolshoi Theater, Lubyanka (a former headquarters of KGB), Revolution Square with Lenin’s Mausoleum (if we’re lucky enough we can take pictures with performers dressed like Nicholas I of Russia, Lenin and Stalin). The omnipresence of power and spirit of history can be sensed on the Taganka Square 70m under which The Tangansky Protected Command Point of Stalin is located (functioned as a command point during the Cold War). Walking across the city streets, we’ll see a surprising symbiosis of luxury and poverty and we’ll find out that the legendary street block is actually a fact. Peace and serenity can be found in the Gorky Park, during a passage on river boat and in local galleries and museums. We will feel the buzzling spirit of Russia which (seriously!) never sleeps.
From the mouth of Neva River to the Gulf of Finland, 400 km north from Moscow, we will discover the magical Venice of the North. We will admire the world-famous artistry of Saint Petersburg which is located on 101 islands. We’ll go to the State Hermitage Museum the most impressive complex of urban and most important museum centers in the world, in which we can admire art pieces of Rubens, Rembrandt, Picasso, Monet and others. Walking across the Russian mesmerizing architecture and park-palace complexes we’ll reach the oldest building: Peter and Paul Fortress. In the city of 396 bridges we’ll visit the on-water museum located inside of Russian cruiser Aurora, and other attractions: The Amber Room in Tsarskoye Selo and a luxurious palace in Petergof – a summer residence of Peter the Great. Night will come before you even know it but you won’t see any darkness because we will be welcomed by White Nights.
We will discover places hard to believe they exist even when you see them for yourselves: incredible monumental architecture and endless landscapes which are lopsided, grey and sometimes even forgotten. We will see places which are very close to Europe but also very remote at the same time. We will take a walk across city streets that never sleep where most desirable fashion designers have their showrooms and where you can visit the best hairdressers and gyms even in the middle of the night and where you can visit small provinces in which people live in flats for multiple families or wooden cottages with no bathroom, running water, heating, not to mention TV or Internet. We will witness peculiar local customs, listen to stories filled with lament over previous socialist system. This is the best place for you to experience what a full of absurd and contrasts post-Soviet reality actually looks like.
